Hoops for the Hospice Day Sunday 19 May 2019

Nailsea Croquet Club is delighted to be supporting the Children’s Hospice by hosting this event which we hope will be a fun-packed day, suitable for all ages.

Admission is free. Visitors will be able to pay £3 to take part in a game of Golf Croquet, with tuition and advice from Club members. In addition, there will be the opportunity to pay 50p to learn each of a variety of shots that are used in Association Croquet or Golf Croquet (or both!). A particular challenge will be to “Hit the tea-lady”,  from a distance of about 25 yards. There will be a prize for anyone who succeeds in this.

The Club will be open from 11am until 6pm so there will be plenty of time to find out how to use a mallet and how to hit balls and run hoops. Tea, coffee, soft drinks and cake will be available all day. Feel free to bring a picnic lunch and include your favourite tipple.

The four Nailsea lawns are flat and well-maintained and they are used for competitions at high level. In July 2020 we will be hosting the Golf Croquet Home Internationals.

Come and help us to raise money for the Hospice and, at the same time, have a great day out discovering the joys of croquet. All equipment will be provided but please wear fat-soled shoes. Very young children will be asked to stay on our practice lawn if they are using a mallet but children from about age 8 will be able to take a full part in the activities on the main lawns.
